I was just bragging about how I had an amazing week of workouts – I had not skipped a single one and I worked out hard. I was really excited and ready for this to be my new norm, no more slacking off. Maybe I was too excited? Or maybe I posted about it too much? hmmmm….
Then, on Monday, when I was running my right knee really started acting up. I don’t usually have knee problems so I played it safe and cut my planned 5 mile run into a slow, easy 2 mile jog.
Then today as I was walking some of my students outside during dismissal, along the 1970s vintage sidewalk, I tripped on one of the huge cracks and went plummeting to the ground. Since, I am such a graceful creature (insert dripping sarcasm and laughter here) instead of managing to catch myself I somehow landed smack on my right knee and then my right hand. Luckily, my knee doesn’t look too bad (thank heavens I was wearing pants and not a skirt), but it does hurt a bit. Add that into the pain from yesterday and here I am taking today off. An unplanned rest day so to speak.
I decided it was worth the $10 late cancellation fee to Orange Theory Fitness to make sure I don’t mess up my knee any more and give it a day off to rest. Now, I am replanning and adjusting my exercise schedule for the week and it is tricky. I reorganized my workout calendar no problem, but I usually sign up for my OTF classes a week in advance; however, since I cancelled the one for tonight I went to add another class in tomorrow to make up for it… Waitlist! What?
Now I am stalking the phone app like a crazy person watching my wait list number.
At 4:00 when I cancelled today’s class, and signed up for tomorrow’s instead, I was number 9 on the waitlist. Now I am number 8. Slowly moving up in the world. Seriously, I am checking almost every hour to see where I am and if I’ll make it into class. So, other than the Orange Theory stalking I am talking it super easy. I’m about to head to bed to prop my leg up and watch some TV while icing my knee. Hoping it feels much better tomorrow and that the rest day was a good decision.
Crazy how as soon as you feel like you are on a roll something can come along and change your plans. Maybe I should pay more attention to where I walk so I don’t bite the dust as much!
How has your week been going so far?|
Ever been attacked by a sidewalk? (This happens to me more than I should admit).
