Loving Lately – March 2017

April 11, 2017 by abby 26 Comments

Hey guys.  Time for another monthly slice into my life and all the little things I am loving this month.  Be sure to check out past posts to catch up on other awesome finds I wrote about.
Here is a whole year of loving lately in case you missed it:
Loving Lately – February 2018
Loving Lately – January 2017

Loving Lately – December 2016
Loving Lately – November 2016
Loving Lately – October 2016
Loving Lately – September 2016
Loving Lately – August 2016

Loving Lately – July 2016
Loving Lately – June 2016
Loving Lately – May 2016

Loving Lately – April 2016
Loving Lately – March 2016

Loving Lately*Okay so this Loving Lately post is a bit different as shingles knocked me out for three weeks this month.  Seriously, I was a big old sickly, hot mess so I pretty much spent all my time sleeping or laying on the couch/in bed relaxing.  Therefore, this Loving Lately is brought to you by three weeks of shingles and time in bed.*

The Great British Bake Off –
I read an article on the best NetFlix shows you should be watching and this topped the list.  The contestants are all real people with real jobs who come in and bake every weekend for no big prize – just the joy and recognition of it all.  Plus, they are not all catty like American reality show people, most of them seem genuinely nice and normal.  And the food they make… oh dear heavens it is amazing and you just end up getting sucked into episode after episode.  I may have watched all three seasons that are currently available on NetFlix during my three week shingles incident.

Trevor Noah: Afraid of the Dark –

I do not normally watch comedy, but Netflix kept suggesting this over and over.  I like bits and pieces of what I have seen of Trevor since he took over the Daily Show for John Stewart, so I went for it.  It was actually really good with some funny jokes.  I have since tried to watch a few other NetFlix comedy specials and I did not like any of them as much as I liked this one.  So, if you enjoy comedy go for it.

Halo Top–
Woohoo – my local Harris Teeter, the grocery store I actually go to, started carrying Halo Top.  They don’t carry all the flavors, there are 15 or more, but they do have a few in stock.  If you know me you know that Ben & Jerry’s is my number one food of choice and that I believe a pint is a convenient little bowl, perfect serving size (Ben & Jerry do not seem to agree with this and think there are 4 servings in one pint – crazy!)

As I am trying to calm it down with the Ben & Jerry’s I was so happy to see Halo Top come into stock.  My favorite flavor is the Mint Chip which has just 240 calories in the whole pint, instead of the 1,200ish in my favorite Ben & Jerry’s.  Plus, it has 20ish grams of protein in a pint so it helps fill you up too.  I will admit it is not quite the same as Ben & Jerry’s, but it is BY FAR the best low calorie ice cream I have tried.  My goal now is to only buy this when I am craving ice cream and not other brands that pack on 3/4 times the calories.

Let me know –
What are you loving lately?
Have you watched The Great British Bake Off yet?
If you have tried Halo Top what is your favorite flavor?

Loving Lately – March 2017: All my favorite things that I discovered this month. What are you…

I love Halo Top! My favorite is the oatmeal cookie….it has real oats in it. Yum! As for the baking show, no, but my son does like to watch some cooking shows. We got into Kids Baking Competition over the winter.

My store only has about 5 flavors and Oatmeal Cookie is not one of them, that does sound good though.

I love Halo Top because I’m satisfied with far less than the whole pint. I’d devour regular ice cream. I’m bummed all my store has is lemon. When I was in Ireland for RnRDub last August there was a cooking show on that was hilarious! I wish I could watch it here. I’ll check out the British Bake Off.
    Hope you’re feeling 100% better!

I still eat the whole pint – whoops.
But at least this pint is like 1/4 or 1/3 the calories of a Ben & Jerry’s pint.
I hope your store gets more in, mine has 5 flavors, not lemon strangely enough though.

I need to try that NETFLIX show. My husband and I are constantly on the hunt for a new show to watch that interests the both of us. So far, I am never impressed with anything and fall asleep the second something turns on, ha!

I will admit that some flavors are better than others – to me all the chocolate/mocha flavors are a bit chalky.

I’ve tried a few flavors of Halo Top. Most tasted like diet ice cream, and the only one I’d buy again was the Peanut Butter Cup. It is a bit out of my (monetary) budget though, so I think I’ll just watch the other foods I eat and splurge on the real thing occasionally. Ben and Jerry’s Milk and Cookies makes me happy and I keep a pint around- it doesn’t take much of it to satisfy me, thankfully!

I haven’t heard of that bake-off show but those shows are great! Love them for my long cross training sessions lately and when I was doing treadmill runs (when I was actually training. A long time ago…)

I tried the PB and did not like it so much, but I do like the mint, I guess everyone is different. It is expensive, but my thinking is so is the Ben & Jerry’s and thsi is better for me.

BY FAR my favourite Netflix comedy special is Iliza Shlesinger’s Freezing Hot. She has a few others, but this one is absolutely amazing!

OH NO you got shingles. I hear they are horribly painful. I hope you are doing better Abby. I love The Great British Bake Off, you can really connect with the contestants and its fun learning about the difference between American baking and British baking. I love comedy shows but I rarely watch them. I like Trevor Noah but I really miss John Steward on the Daily Show I’ll have to check out Afraid of the Dark.

Yes, I really found myself cheering for certain people on each season. My person always seemed to make it to the finals, but never won.

Sorry to hear you were sick for 3 weeks. Glad you are feeling better! I’ve tried Halo Top but only chocolate and vanilla. I thought it was ok, but now that there is Mint Chip, I may have to try that one! It sounds good!!

I am not a huge fan of either the plain chocolate or vanilla, but the mint I really like.

Okay, I need to get in on this Halo Top craze. I keep seeing it everywhere and I haven’t tried it yet, but people are nuts over it! And ugh. Shingles. That’s no fun.

Love Halo Top! I finally got ahold of some of the new “flavors” they released a few months back. Cliff loves Red Velvet and I am a fan of the Oatmeal one.
