My big goal race is the Chicago Marathon. I am going to visit a new doctor today, a hormonal specialist, who thinks they may be able help me get this adrenal fatigue under control so I don’t sleep all day every day. That would mean the world for my training and would help me go from 2/3 workouts a week, which is a struggle to do currently, back to the 5/6 I used to do before all this happened.
I am running the Run with Donna, Breast Cancer Research, Marathon and Savannah Women’s Half with no goals at all in mind, except to finish injury free. I am using these two races just to keep me motivated while I fight through my medical drama.
I do the Race the Landing 5K series more as a way to see running buddies who I hang out with every summer, at the race, more than for the race itself. During the summer I will be building up mileage for my marathon so I will probably need to do a few miles before these races, and then the race itself will be the tempo part of my run.
I am considering the Dirt Dash Half Marathon and Rock ‘n Roll Savannah Half, but haven’t bit the bullet and registered for either one yet. With the dirt dash it will really depend on my marathon training and if I want to cram a 13.1 mile trail race that is 45 min away in the middle of an 18 mile long run. Savannah will just depend on my recovery from Chicago, it is 4 weeks later so I should be good to go, but you never know.
Finally, I run the Kiawah Half and Charleston Half every year I can and plan on adding them back in again this year. I may toss in some more races as I go too, but it all really just depends on how I am felling medically, and on how my marathon training is going.
