Not sure where you will find that extra 30 minutes? Think about shutting your TV off earlier or logging off social media more. It will be worth it.
2. Hydrate more throughout the day –
Many runners are guilty of hydrating before and after their runs, but not throughout the entire day. This is one simple way you can improve your running. By adequately hydrating all day long you’ll go into your runs more prepared. The simplest way to do this is to carry a refillable water bottle around with you. You’ll be shocked at how many places have water fountains you can fill up at. Make a conscious effort to fill your bottle throughout the day and track how many ounces of water you are taking in. This one little change can make a world of difference.
3. Stretch daily –
As a running coach I am shocked by the number of clients who tell me they don’t stretch. This is one of the first things I make them do when I start working with them. Stretching is a simple way to improve your running. It helps to prevent sore muscles and tight joints, but even more important than that, it helps prevent injury. One of the best ways you can improve as a runner is by running (practice makes perfect!) but injury stops or slows you down. Stretching on the other hand keeps you happily logging those miles. I highly suggest dynamic stretches before you start each run and static stretches after each run is over.
4. Have a set plan –
One of the simplest ways to improve your running is to actually have a set plan. Instead of just going out and winging it day after day, put a plan in place that is meant to help you move toward your goals. By following a plan, you are more likely to improve than you would if you were to just go out and run randomly – organization does wonders for us runners.
