Certain blog titles/topics tend to pull viewers in, while others leave them scrolling right on by. How can you be sure that your blog posts are getting read? Trying using one of these 5 blog topics to attract viewers.
5 Blog Topics to Attract Viewers:
1. Lists/Numbers –
There is a reason Davis Letterman’s Top 10 List was popular for so long, people love numbered lists. By making a numbered list the topic/title of your blog post it draws readers in by telling them exactly what to expect from the post. For example: The 4 Best Yoga Poses for Tight Calves, 7 Spring Wardrobe Essentials, 6 Ways to Save Big Shopping at Trader Joes, etc.
2. Mistakes –
As individuals we love to learn from the mistakes of others so that we don’t make the same mistakes ourselves. By posting a blog sharing mistakes that you have made, you instantly draw people in not only because they want to learn where you went wrong, but also because they want to check and make sure they are not making any of the same mistakes. For example: The Biggest Mistakes I Made When Launching My eBook, 5 Marathon Training Mistakes and How to Avoid Them, etc.
3. How To –
Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. Give a reader a post and they may read for a few days, teach your reader with helpful how to posts and they’ll keep coming back. We all desire to learn something new, so if you can provide that service by teaching something in a how to post you grab people who are thirsty for knowledge, especially free blog post knowledge. For example: How to Utilize the Easy/Hard Principle of Running, How to Style Your New Blanket Scarf, How to Perfect Pigeon Pose, etc.
4. Successes/Failures (Personal Stories) –
Being real and authentic is crucial to having a successful blog. One part of this is not only sharing awesome success stories that inspire and motivate others, but also sharing stories of the times you failed as these can be very relatable to your audience. So don’t just brag when you nail a race PR, tell about that time you crashed and burned. Or, don’t just share how you launched your eCourse and made (insert insane amount of money here), be sure to tell about how your first attempt was a total bust and what you learned from it.
5. Homework/Printables –
As children most of use hated homework; however, it turns out that as adults many of us love the structure of having exactly what we need to accomplish laid out in front of us. Giving adult homework, or creating printables to go along with your blog posts draws readers in who like structure. This could be something like doing a post for an exercise challenge and having a calendar your readers can download and print off, or doing a post on blog essentials and having a checklist your readers can use to make sure they have everything they need.
