There are certain things I can’t live run without, my running essentials if you will. These 5 pieces of gear are my absolute favorites and you can almost guarantee you’ll see me with all 5 on every single run. After years of running these are the tried and true pieces that I just keep going back to, and the ones I would highly suggest you check out for yourself.
Mizuno Wave Rider –
Mizuno is now on version number 19 of their acclaimed Wave Rider shoe and I am loving it as always. In truth I have four different styles of Mizuno shoe that I use for different workouts. There is the Orange Theory shoe (cross training), the speed work shoe, the trail shoe, and then the Wave Rider which is my absolute favorite, the if I could only pick one shoe for the rest of my life shoe, which catches all the other miles.
ProCompression Marathon Sock –
I have been a huge fan of ProCompression Marathon Socks ever since my first marathon in 2012. Post long run you can find me on the couch (or in bed) with my Procompression socks and NetFlix. I can definitely feel the difference in my recovery when I wear them and when I do not. At first they only had a few basic colors, but in the past year or so they have been stepping up their game like crazy. Now I need ALL THE SOCKS!
Mizuno Featherweight Tight –
The Mizuno Featherweight Tight is the only tight I wear all year long. Coming in 4 different lengths there is no need to switch from away from my favorite bottoms. They have a short version (just past booty), mid version (knee length), 3/4 length version (capri), and full length version (pant). I wear the full length featherweight in the winter, the 3/4 in the spring/fall, and the mid in the summer. I am in LOVE with these because they don’t slide down, roll up, or give me any crazy issues. They stay perfectly in place. It took me years to find a tight that could do that.
CamelBak Dart –
I have been a huge fan of the CamelBak Dart Hydration Pack for at least 2 years now. Before that I tried handhelds, but it turns out I hate carrying stuff in one hand the whole time. Then I tried waist belts, but it turns out my hips bounce more than a kid on a trampoline and I just couldn’t handle all that jiggling. I must admit I was worried how I would feel running with something on my back, but it feels by far the most natural and is also the least noticeable. I suggest the CamelBaK Dart (their smallest, lightest running pack) as your best bet for on the go hydration.
Garmin Forerunner 220 –
When I upgraded to the Garmin Forerunner 220 I fell in love. This baby has so many amazing features, but my favorites are how quickly it finds a GPS signal, its longer battery life, and the larger screen that I can actually read. (You can check out my full review on all the upgraded features here.) I feel as though having a reliable GPS watch has really helped me to step up my run game.
