What does a half marathon taper look like for me?
Well I don’t go all bat crap crazy like I do when I hit full marathon taper, but I do still get a little funky before a big goal race.
1. I cut way back on workouts to keep my body feeling fresh.
However, I suddenly decided I have absolutely no desire to workout at all. Only a 30 minute walk on Thursday instead of lifting and a 60 min spin class. Oh heavens that walk sounds like so much work…. insert every excuse ever here.
2. I am starving.
Oka, who are we kidding, I am always STARVING. You would think I would be wanting to fill up on all sorts of good stuff, but I begin craving carbs in the form of an entire box of crackers for dinner followed by straight sugar for dessert. (Hello,Cadbury Crème Eggs, welcome back my beauties.) I don’t even like chips. I had corn chips for dinner today. Carbs??? What the heck!
3. I could sleep forever.
Seriously, like college kid lay in bed until 2:00pm, get up only to eat, get back into bed, sleep forever. LAZY… well you know if it wasn’t for that full time job thing.
4. I do not plan ahead.
I always know what shoes I am wearing because of my awesome job as a Mizuno Running Ambassador, but I never have any clue what I am actually going to run in. I intend to lay clothes out the night before, but inevitably wake up the morning of the race and flip out tossing things out of my closet while I try to figure out what to wear.
5. I stalk the weather.
Like if my iPhone weather app could get a restraining order it would. I am on it all day. I would say like white on rice, but let me be real there is no rice in my life lately. More like – On it like Abby on ice cream (on candy, or entire boxes of crackers, or… see #2 – STARVING!).
