This year I walked the Turkey Trot with my buddy Adrienne, who is currently on forced hiatus from running, and her husband. We picked up our packets and were a bit chilly while we waited around for the start, but once we got moving it was an absolutely beautiful Thanksgiving morning for a 5K.
After we were done walking the Turley Trot/Gobble Wobble Adrienne headed home to work on some Thanksgiving cooking for her family. Since, I was already dressed in running clothes and downtown I decided to take advantage of it. By this time it was almost 50 degrees, sunny, and just amazing out. Plus, I just could not think of a better way to start off my morning than going for a nice run around downtown Charleston. It is such a beautiful city. Over 10 years later I still marvel at how amazing the city I moved to is, and feel very blessed that I decided to make Charleston my home. Starting Thanksgiving with a happy heart and a big smile was absolutely perfect.
After my run it was time to head home and clean up quickly, sneak in a little nap, and then head to my parents house. We meet up around 3:00 and cooked a delicious dinner. I LOVED the fried turkey with homemade cranberry sauce and my homemade gluten free macaroni and cheese the most. I also snacked on way too many chocolates, but it was so worth it because I had the most amazing time with my family. I am so thankful that my parents followed me down to SC.
How many of you participated in a Turkey Trot?
