No weekly Weight Watchers weigh-in update this Thursday. I took a sick day from work today and have already called in sick for tomorrow…uggghhhh. I feel horrible and didn’t want to get anyone sick, plus I haven’t really left my bed all day, so I skipped out.
However, I did pretty well with my Weight Watchers points considering I had a weekend vacation away for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah Race. The old me used to consider vacations an excuse to go buck wild and eat junk for every single meal, plus more junk in between for snacks. I still want to enjoy vacations so I let myself have treats, but I did not go as crazy and I tracked everything I ate using my Weight Watchers app.
However, I did walk around a ton. I got a hotel right in the Historic District near everything and I didn’t move my car all weekend. I made it everywhere on foot, which was slightly tricky since I am a huge klutz and Savannah is full of cobblestone streets and scarily steep old stairs.
Saturday, after my amazing run at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah Half Marathon I decided I deserved a nice dinner out. I went to the Chart House on River Street which was gorgeous. Since it was just me, and I didn’t have reservations, I ate at their rather swanky bar. I got their spin on Surf ‘n’ Turf – braised short ribs, seared scallops, and Yukon gold smashed potatoes. Delicious.
Then, as I was walking around I came across a nice little Harvest Festival full of booths from local vendors and decided to try some super swanky truffles made by a local chocolatier. Best truffles of my life! (clockwise) blood orange dark chocolate, Southern pecan praline, fall pumpkin spice, and white chocolate lemon mint
I did all my exploring with my absolute favorite fall drink , Starbucks tall pumpkin spice latte with nonfat milk and no whip, as it was the perfect fall day with just a little chill in the area.
Overall, I am really proud of myself – I allowed myself lots of fun treats and really enjoyed my vacation, but I did not go too wild. The old me would have stopped at every chocolate shop, junk food place, etc. and it would not have been just 4 truffles it would have been all 10 flavors. When I came back I was still in the positive points, which was fabulous because my goal was to enjoy, and to use my extra weekly points for treats, but not to drop into the negative.
I feel like I am slowly learning more and more about how to make smarter food decisions.
Ever been to Savannah?
Which truffle do you think sounds the most amazing?
The white chocolate lemon mint was such a strange, but fabulous combination. It was my favorite.
