Weather is a game changer!
After months, and months, and months or brutal summer days with temperatures already in the 90s for my morning runs, and heat indexes that seems like they belonged in a circle of hell, to wake up and suddenly have a morning like this…Boom! I was so happy to throw on long sleeved shirt and to enjoy a nice cool run. I am so sick of being hot and sweaty.
I guess over the summer I had forgotten how much heat affects me as a runner.
I ran with the exact same girl I ran with last week, only this time we did 12 miles instead of 11.
I felt like I was running the same effort as I did last week; however, with the difference in heat and humidity our run speed dropped an average of 40 seconds a mile. Wow!
A Training Truth – Weather is a game changer!
Having a nice cool day like this helped me to see that I am capable of running with the 2:15 pace group at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah Half in a little less than two weeks, which was a goal of mine going into this race. It also made me realize that race day weather is even more important than I thought it was.
What is another running/workout game changer?
