My motivation lately stinks. I am so used to training to run longer distances that all these short 3 and 4 mile runs my coach has me doing while I heal seem lacking and leave me craving more. I know I need to embrace the shorter distances and work on getting healthier, but I am struggling to find the same sense of accomplishment in those short runs that I found in the longer distances. I registered for the Race the Landing series in hope it helps.
By registering early you get all 5 races for the price of 3 so I dove in. I am hoping that Race the Landing forces me to focus on 5K races, put in a bit more effort with shorter distances, and also causes some of my motivation to return.
Maybe if I focus on beating my 28:35 current 5K PR this summer, and really try to drop into the 27something range, it will make all those 3 and 4 mile weekly runs seem more purposeful and worthwhile.
Distance runners – Do you struggle with motivation for short runs?
5K people – How do you pace that distance?
What would you hope for as free post race dinner? (I crave rice post run.)
