Seemed silly to put my standard Sunday recipe post up when you and I both know that is the furthest thing from my mind today.
The Marine Corp Marathon is today and I have been dreaming of this race for longer than I care to admit. Through a tear-filled, painful deferment in 2012 to a 2013 training cycle plagued by injuries and illness, I have fought tooth and nail for this race. I have so much motivation to run MCM and so many wonderful reasons to run this specific race, including my two favorite Marines:
Bobbin (grandpa) – WWII & Korea
Dad – Vietnam
However, I have had to adjust my goals a bit and that is going to have to be okay. Post Plantar Fasciitis I knew it had to be done.
I always set three goals for every race so that I’m never too depressed about failing to meet a goal.
The Realistic Goal – one I should hopefully meet
The Big Goal – if I can really push myself
Shoot for the Moon – if the stars align and everything goes perfectly on race day
