I’m going to make this month’s GoalGetter update pretty short and sweet, because there isn’t much to say. (Insert sad face here.) If you want to check out more detailed GoalGetter posts look back over my past month’s updates: GoalGetter April Update, GoalGetter March Update, GoalGetter February Update, and GoalGetter January Update.
Goal 1 – Running
So I haven’t run in 5 weeks, which bites, and have instead become a spin/biking addict. Basically the doctor only cleared me for no impact activities like spinning, biking, and swimming and it turns out swimming sucks my butt, so spinning/biking it is. (My circa 1992ish bike. Sometimes it’s a good thing I was a giant in elementary school- still fits.)
I had planned on running, and paid for (nonrefundable of course), a local 5K series this summer. I have already missed the first 2 races, but am going to try to convince my chiro/sports med guy to let me try the one this Thursday. I promise not to actually race it (seriously), but I want to see how the leg holds up and what else we need to do to work on it, and I want to do that before day 1 of Marine Corp Marathon training on July 1st. Running this race (slowly) to test out the leg after 5 weeks off – Good or bad idea?
Goal 2 – Healthy Eating
I’d prefer not to talk about this one, but I want to be honest – I suck. I let all the stress of not running get to me and have had a million accidental binges. I am back on track and have lost 2 pounds recently, but I am still 4 pounds up from my usual and 8 pounds up from where I was at the end of the diet bet. I gotta get on track and stopping making excuses and having binges. It is really hard to undo years of bad eating habits, but I am trying.
Any bad food habits you still fall into? Stress binges still get me sometimes.
Goal 3 – Personal
Probably the only goal I am succeeding at. I have been getting more sleep, allowing myself time to read and relax, and spending more time with my fabulous friends and family.
I plan on continuing to focus on my three goals next month and hope to get back on track. What goals are you working on?
