Recently I have really be trying to improve my eating (as always) and I realized that I feel hungry way too often which causes me to make bad food decisions. I decided to try to solve this problem by consciously making an effort to add more protein to my diet. So you can guess my amazement when this big old box of Designer Whey tasty, protein packed, goodness showed up on my doorstep.
Boy do they know how to spoil a girl. (Secret, whenever boxes arrive, I feel super special because it is mail that isn’t a bill and also because something about opening a box makes me feel like I am getting a present. Yes, I have the mentality of of small child, sorry.)
First, I broke into the bars. They have 10 grams of protein and between 160-170 calories each. These quickly got thrown into my lunch box for my pre-gym/after school snack or eaten as an easy pre-spin class breakfast on the way to the gym on Saturday mornings (total lifesaver because I cannot wakeup in time for that thing to save my life). I tried really hard to pick a favorite flavor so I could tell you all, but the truth is I LOVED all 3. Which one I grabbed just depended on if I was in a chocolate mood or a peanut butter mood. Next, I busted into the premade shakes these would be great for people who are on the go or perfect to leave at work. They have crazy great stats with 18 grams of protein and only 100 calories. Products like this fit perfectly into my desire to add more protein in my diet while still counting calories. However, in truth I actually preferred the protein powder (I loved both the white chocolate and vanilla) over the premade shakes because it had the same amazing stats, but I could do more with it.
I could make fancy White Chocolate Blackberry Protein Smoothies… or simple Banana and Vanilla Protein Smoothies to keep me from binging on popcorn while I caught up on some Game of Thrones. Some fabulous Twitter and Instagram friends even informed me that I could shake it into my morning coffee. Holy cow, like creamer with protein – Winning! However, my absolute favorite use for the Designer Whey Protein Powder was – BAKING! I mean let us be real- any time you can add protein to muffins, cupcakes, or cookies while still keeping the fabulous taste is amazing in my book. These Strawberries & Cream Protein Muffins used the Designer Whey Vanilla Protein Powder so they help keep you full, taste delicious, and ring in at only 159 calories – HELLO DESSERT! While there were a million uses for the protein powder I must admit my absolute favorite Designer Whey product was the Protein2Go. Normally when I finish a gym workout I am ravenous as I rush home for dinner which can lead to me quickly shoving (way too much) food into my mouth. By having one of these Protein2Go packets after my workout I was able to make it home without injuring anyone in a fight for food along the way. They are super easy and convenient too. I just tossed a bunch in my gym bag, ripped open a packet, poured it in my water bottle, and shook. TA – DA! 10 grams of (keep Abby from stopping at the fro-yo place, seriously why put that right next to my gym?) protein for only 50 calories.
Okay, so I totally had no clue about the protein powder as coffee cream thing, did you?
What else can I use my protein powder for?
What’s your favorite use?
