2013 Goals – Running
1. Run 13 races in 2013:
Well crap. I missed my one scheduled February race because I had the flu.
Totally a good idea to skip it as I could barely move. I have done two races so far, but the further I get into marathon training the harder it is to squeeze other stuff in. Marathoners –
How do you fit a 10K or 10mile race in when you have 20 miles schedule? (Without losing momentum?)
2. Complete my first tri:
3. Work on my speed –
I achieved my goal, to run my virtual race faster each month, by increasing my speed from January to February. That means that in March I will be aiming for 5 miles at about a 9:20 average pace. I feel like I am slowly getting healthier post injury so I hope this is doable.
5 by the 5th – Race 1 Recap – January
5 mile total = 47.57 total
Average per mile = 9:35 pace
5 by the 5th – Race 2 Recap – February
5 mile total = 47:00 total
Average per mile = 9:23 pace
2013 Goals – Healthy Eating
1. Stick to 1,600 calories (of nonjunk)
2. Add more veggies
3. Stay away from processed sweets and end meals with fruit instead
I did much better this month and when the Diet Bet Final Results came in – I WON! This proves to me that I am capable of eating healthy foods and making smarter decisions. I still allowed myself a few splurges and nights out during the Diet Bet, but overall I made smarter choices and proved to myself that healthy eating is a lifestyle choice that I am fully capable of making. However, now I have been done with my Diet Bet for almost 2 weeks and I have been struggling. I had some binge eating issues involving Girl Scout cookies (FYI – I am 100% sure they make Samoas and Thin Mints with crack!), but I am working hard to get back on track. I am trying to remind myself that if I was able to make better decisions for a month during the Diet Bet then I am fully capable of making better decisions for my own health on a regular basis.
2013 Goals – Personal
1. Follow a work night curfew – computer off by 9:30 & lights by 10:30:
I am doing really well turning the computer off, but am still struggling to make it from the computer to lights out in an hour. Many night my bedtime ends up being 11 instead of 10:30.
2. Relax – find time to read before lights out:
This is probably the goal I am doing best at. Every night before bed I am reading my magazines or book and I am loving the 15-30 minutes I spend reading every night.
3. Be present in the moment – phone off – focus on the people you are with:
I am really working on this and think I am still doing way better than I was before. I am also, really making an attempt to spend time the the important people in my life and really trying to let them know how much they mean to me (like when I gifted my brilliant running buddy with new Mizunos). This may mean skipping a night of blogging for food, fun, and friends, but I no longer feel guilty if I don’t get a blog post up. I know my personal life is just as important.
