I took an entire week off marathon training due to food poisoning killing my already weakened post flu body, not the way I wanted to lose weight. However, now it is back on track with a 5 miler tonight and then a HUGE jump to a 15 mile long run this weekend (which the weatherman says it will pour rain for). This will be by far my longest run since my injury struck in August!
Excited, nervous, bribing myself – I’m running to fro-yo. Not joking. I’ll be picturing that delicious goodness the entire time. (It is my reward for winning my FitFluential Diet Bet!)
Does food ever motivate you to run? (Or is that just me?)
What food would you run for?

careful with the 15 miler, have fun. I too and motivated by food, I have such a sweet tooth
I agree with the sweet tooth and after a long run I feel okay indulging a bit.
Usually I put the fresh fruit on top of my fro-yo, but post 15 miler tomorrow I think it will be a bit of cookie dough, a few gummi bears, and maybe a few Reese’s Pieces:)
I totally ran for fro yo during my long run last week. When it’s toward the end of my long run and I’m feeling tired, I often try to distract myself by thinking of the goodies I’ll eat when I’m done. Good luck with your runs!
I do the same thing, when I think I can go any more I remind myself – “When you finish you get…”
“heyyyy, ya’ll!!!” i just love to hear your voice!!! im so glad youre feeling better finally and jumpin back in the saddle! (or the bowl of froyo!) heeheehee. id definitely run, hop, skip, jump, and shake for mine! looove it! seriously, if there was an award for greatest vlogger, id totally vote you! your personality just makes me smile! xxoo
You are too sweet, so happy you love my goofy personality. I think years of teaching children has made me a goober;)
I run for cupcakes. And fro yo
I need to find a good cupcake place around here. Especially before my SIL comes, they are here favorite.
Best CHS cupcakes I’ve had were at Earth Fare.
Good to know. I was thinking maybe Whole Foods would be good (never tried them though), but EarthFare is way closer.
FROYO! Love it. Glad you are feeling better girl!
Slow, but surely recovering. The last 3 weeks will be ugly so I’ll see how this run goes tomorrow.
I LOVE your accent — makes me miss home (Tennessee) and glad other people say ya’ll too
I’ve never ran for food, but def for drinks! haha Good luck this weekend – can’t wait to hear how it goes
My training partner is just like you, she’d as soon run for beer as for sweets!
FYI – I am was born and raised in Indiana. I just moved South about 9 years ago and boom – ya’ll is now a part of my vocab:)
Yay for the vlog! Love hearing you talk!!! Good luck this weekend..you will do great! And yes…I always run for food lol!
Thanks Mindy after basically missing 3 weeks of training with all my sickies I am just hoping to take it super slow and finish in one piece – and then eat fro-yo!
Oh no! Food poisoning on top of the flu? No fun! I’m glad that you’re feeling better and getting back to running. Hope your 5 miler went well and good luck this weekend (but be careful too, ok?).
I will be careful for sure. I know I am not 100% right now so I will take it super slow. I have no goal for the 15 except to finish in one piece.
I love Fro Yo too
. I think I might get some Saturday after my 5K as well, I have some coupons for the new Yum Yum Yogurt so I’m excited about going there! Good luck with your 15 miler.
Ne fro-yo place? What? Shut the front door!
Where is it? and Please let me know how it is.
Beside the Publix at the corner of Main Rd. and Savannah Hwy. I have coupons, we should go sometime, just let me know when, mine are $1 off $4 or more cup. It is called Yum Yum Yogurt.
The one on Sam Ritt is supposed to reopen soon, but the last time I went there, the worker was a little snappy, so I don’t know that I’ll go back (hate to say that but customer service is a big thing when there are multiple fro-yo shops in a city).
I’d love to try the new one sometime. I’m most flexible on weekends.
Me too- today would’ve been perfect actually with the weather. Next weekend I’m busy covering the Charleston Food and Wine Festival (oh the joys of being a professional writer), so I will have to pass on froyo, but I’m sure you understand
.
That should be fun though, I heard it is really expensive, maybe you’ll get some free yummy food:)
Good luck with your 15 miler, you can do it! Just take it nice and easy
I definitely run for food, I like cinnamon rolls
Oh my goodness I cannot remember the last time I had a cinnamon roll. Now I totally want to buy some and make them after a long run. Yummy!
Wow! That’s a long run. Hope things go well.
I pretty much eat what I want anyway so no running for food.
The problem is that if I was allowed to eat what I want I would subside souly on fried chicken, mac and cheese, pizza, cheeseburgers, sweet potato fries, and EVERY DESSERT know to man. I am horrid if left to my own devices. Therefore trying to eat healthy all day and rewarding myself with a bit of fro-yo after a long run is probably my best bet.
I totally have faith in you, Abby! Just take it nice and easy and you’ll do fabulously. Froyo is beyond an appropriate post run treat.
I think I can make it. I just think that after 3 weeks of sickness it will be really slow and ugly, but as long as I finish I’ll be glowing from ear to ear.
Listen to your body this weekend miss! And enjoy that froyo! You earned it
I will Beka. I am being so careful this year it’s like I don’t even know this new smart runner me. Where did she come from?
I run for nachos..and wine. I had nachos at the end of the disney marathon and it was the best thing EVER so I think I might continue with that tradition and run for nachos at my next one
I had nachos after Disney too.
The whole time we ran we talked about eating our way through Epcot to celebrate.
My run buddy and I split a few things so we could try more… our first stop – splitting nachos in Mexico. So yummy!
Oh, it will be so slow whether I want to it or not.
I am naturally slow anyway and after 3 weeks off post illness I will be moving at turtle pace.
Good thing my speedy run buddy is perhaps the most tolerant person ever!
