After two months totally off running due to physical therapy and another month and a half taking it super slow I feel like I am finally up and running. As I have slowly been allowed to return to working out the last month and a half I have had to take required days off between each workout. I have only been getting in 3 or 4 easy sessions in each week, way less than the 6 workouts I am used to a week. This week has been my first chance to try working out consecutive days and I am so excited. My workout schedule this week looked like this:
Don’t get me wrong I am taking it super easy. (We don’t want another one of these tearful Marine Corp Marathon Deferment videos come next fall.)
All my runs have been below normal pace, but boy is it fabulous to be running again.
I am starting off slow and light.
I am listening to my body.
I am stretching every night.
I am not pushing it (even when I want to).
I am focusing on recovery as much as on training… Maybe I did learn something from this injury after all. Says the idiotic girl who ran her first marathon without stretching at all!
Grateful to be back at it and feeling pretty good.
– To work out more than 3 or 4 days a week.
– To be above 10 miles a week for the first time in almost 4 months.
– To feel a bit like my old self again.
– Now don’t get my wrong, my leg is still not near 100%, but it is much better.
Look who we bumped into at the farmers’ market post run today….
Do you think I can ask Santa for an injury free 2013?
What would you ask Santa for?
